 So,

• if vision – where you’re going, your reason for being – provides the direction for everything,
• and if your job is to produce truly inspired followers who want to give their ‘A’ game,
• and if those who look to you for leadership are motivated by their own interests, not yours,

then your getting the house on the hill and becoming fabulously rich just won’t be effective motivators for them.  That means that the vision – the real vision – needs to be about something deeper.  To figure out what that might be, begin with why you started on this path.  Not the money part.  Money is just the by-product of delivering value.  I mean the real reason.

One more time:  It’s all about making sure that others get what they need.  So, what is it about your vision – the real one – that feeds something special in those who look to you for leadership?
