When I began doing Fully Alive Leadership workshops and keynotes it wasn’t about money or about fame. It wasn’t about the travel to fabulous places. Indeed, far more commonly travel was to board rooms, conference rooms and convention stages.

It was entirely about being of service to others. It was about contributing, even just a bit, to help people make choices that would result in a better life for themselves, for the people they care about, for their businesses and extending outward far and wide. Indeed,

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”   – Henry Adams

That’s quite an invitation from Henry Adams to all of us, especially to leaders.

I hope that I brought something that spoke to you. Sometimes I received feedback that I hit the bulls eye for someone and each time it was so very gratifying.*

Then life presented me with new options and limitations and it was time to leave the Fully Alive Leadership world and go in another direction.

I’m still a behavior geek, always wanting to understand we baffling humans, trying to figure out why we say and do the things we do. And I’m still a passion junky, still striving to live fully alive every minute. That’s what animated my session with you and it still animates me today. Perhaps that describes you, too.

*Following one workshop a fellow walked me out of the building and said something that stunned me. He said that he thought that I had just saved his marriage. I asked what he meant and he said, “I think I understand now what my wife has been trying to tell me.”

I’m pretty sure he was referring to my piece about listening. You know: Don’t fix it. Just listen. Completely focused.

I hope they both have lived happily ever after!
